ABOUT US
Our Mission
“It is our mission to provide acupuncture as an introduction to East Asian Medicine. We provide a wide variety of specialties and modalities with the primary emphasis on Asian Medicine. Our treatment plans are patient centered, empowering patients to actively participate in the healing process.
We incorporate a scientific understanding of Chinese Medicine in order to communicate effectively using a common language for Western doctors and patients, while bridging the gap between Eastern and Western Medicine. Our goal is to offer quality care and programs that set community standards, and exceed patients’ expectations, while providing it in a caring, convent, cost-effective, and accessible manner.”

Our Philosophy
East 2 West Integrative Medicine was founded in 2017 by Dr. Antonio (Tony) Provencio and Dr. Han (Annie) Yang.
The business name for us has many meanings:
Acupuncture (one of our primary services) is historically considered an Eastern Medicine associated with and originating from Eastern Cultures, but in recent history it has gained acceptance in Western Medicine and culture.
Dr. Annie originated from the East, she is originally from China and studied Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) from one of the sources. Dr. Tony originated from the West, he is originally from San Diego, California and studied Traditional Asian Medicine (including TCM) in a Western setting that had a heavy emphasis on Modern-Scientific (Western) Medicine.
East 2 West for us signifies the most basic principles of TCM. The most basic principle of TCM is the importance of balance between Yin and Yang. This balance is what promotes health and emotional well being, prevents disease (dis-ease any type of discomfort), and delays the aging process (along with the symptoms that are commonly associated as “normal”).
This balance of Yin and Yang is infinitely divisible, meaning that there is always a combination and changing balance between the two. For instance, TCM uses a distinction between the cause (root - attribute: Yin) of a symptom and the symptom itself (branch - attribute: Yang), when assessing a patient or concern, we consider and treat both root and branch, however the focus could be more on one or the other.
East 2 West was founded on TCM which uses a holistic (natural and whole body) approach to healthcare solutions. The patient’s main concern is typically the primary focus of the visit, however in TCM the entire body’s functions and sense of well-being could be taken into account and/or treated.
Modern medicine is moving to a “patient centric” healthcare model, where the patient’s concerns, goals, feelings, and internal experience is the focus of the visit. In a Patient Centered Care Model the patients' viewpoints are respected and valued, physical comfort and emotional wellbeing are the top priorities of the visit. The mission and values of the provider are in alignment with the patient’s goals, the care is collaborative and agreed upon, and communication is a top priority.
Our goal at East 2 West is to bring an integrative approach to healthcare, most of our providers are trained in both Western and Eastern Medicine. We incorporate an understanding of both Traditional Medicine and Modern Medicine when assessing our patients.

Our Vision
“It is our vision that Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) becomes part of mainstream medicine. In our vision TCM is offered as a form of primary and specialty care nationwide and is considered equivalent to its Western counterparts as it is in China.
This vision will manifest as public education and outreach, quality care that exceeds patient’s expectations, and various satellite clinics in surrounding areas to increase patient accessibility and diversity.
Our vision includes incorporating every aspect of Chinese Medicine from acupuncture, cupping, guasha, acupressure, moxibustion, herbal medicine, exercise therapy, and more. We aim to have a wide variety of clinicians who offer a diverse set of specialties and modalities and that can help guide patients to clinicians that would benefit the most.”
